About the Artist

A Lifetime Exploring Art
I love making art, all kinds, and have been exploring art forms for many decades. Watercolors were my preferred medium until the mid 90’s when I started playing with heated plastics. My medium … a pigmented plastic I call Touleen. The art process … hotmelt glue machines I invented and sold around the world to seal boxes and assemble products. Touleen is melted (400F) and pumped thru a heated hose and then into a handgun. Pulling the trigger it squirts out of a nozzle as a very hot colored stream. Shoot it on paper, canvas, plastic and see what happens. Use it with other art materials like watercolors and beautiful things happen… new colorful deposits, whirling shapes and rich, deep buildups. That handgun has become my artist’s brush. These yellow hotmelt machines are my pallet and each one is dedicated to a color.
In addition to creating Touleen art I love working with other materials such as leather cord and wool fiber. I’ve been doing abstract needlepoint canvases since the 70’s and last year I started weaving small art tapestries. Today you’ll find me holding a heated hose and gun, at my art table, working at a small loom or watching TV stitching needlepoint. At 78 I’m totally addicted and can’t stop doing my art.
